Show summary
THE DOUGH-JO is a family gameshow which strives to strengthen the bond between parent and child through a fun activity like baking. In a fast-paced country like Singapore where parents are busy with work and their children with homework, THE DOUGH-JO creates the opportunity where both can throw caution to the wind and just have some plain old fun. The show also aims to provide a platform for kids and parents to showcase their baking skills and creative ideas!

Each episode features 3 teams comprising one parent and one child. The contestants will go through 2 grueling rounds, competing against each other and time to secure the highest number of points to win the title of DOUGH-JO Master!

Mechanics:

ROUND 1: KNOCK & KNEAD
Duration: 5min (TV time); 10min (game time)

Teams will be issued the Theme of the Week. They will then have to make pastries related to the theme. For example: The theme is Halloween Scream-puffs.

In this round, each team will make a model of their pastry using the ‘Play-Doh’ provided. Parents will be instructed by their children in the design and the making of

the model. They will have to abide by a specific judging criteria and points will be awarded according to how well they fulful the criteria.

2 minutes into the round, a gong will go off. This is the cue for the child of each team to jump into THE DOUGH-JO ARENA. This is a ball pit where the children have to find a box that contains a secret ‘Play-Doh’ tool that will give their model a certain advantage. Finding the tool will also earn them bonus points. The tool will be placed inside a box. There are many decoy boxes in the pit to distract the contestants. THERE IS ONLY ONE SECRET TOOL IN THE BALL PIT.

At the end of the round, the teams will have to go up to the podium to explain their model and its relevance to the theme of the week. Each team has 30 seconds to convince the judge who will then inspect the model and award points according to the judging criteria.

JUDGING CRITERIA FOR KNOCK & KNEAD: (1) The model must weigh 500 grams. 10 points are awarded to the group with the model that weighs 500 grams or closest to 500 grams. The second closest receives 8 points and the last group 5 points. 1 point is deducted for every 50 grams or part thereof that exceeds 500 grams.

(2) The model must be 15 cm in height or in length. 10 points are awarded to the group with the model that is 15 cm or closest to 15 cm. The second closest receives 8 points. The last group 5 points. 1 point is deducted for every 1cm or part thereof that exceeds 15 cm.

(3) The model has to be relevant to theme of the week 10 points are given for relevance to the theme of the week. Relevance to the theme will be judged by the colours used in the model, shapes and also based on the presentation done by the contestants.

(4) The team that finds the special ‘Play-Doh’ tool will be given a bonus of 5 points

Maximum points for this round: 35 points. These points will be carried forward to the next round.
