Apocalypse Now is visually beautiful epic war film about Vietnam War in 1968 and how this horrible war effects people that are apart of it. The film is about the protagonist’s journey through Vietnam to Cambodia where he must kill a man in order to complete his mission. On the protagonist Willard’s way up the river to his target he has to confront the horrors of war and the insanity that comes with it. The film has a lot of surrealistic and symbolic sequences detailing the confusion, violence, fear, chaos and nightmarish madness of the Vietnam War. The film is like the experience of war, both internal and external. It is the experience of sadness, grief, rage and exhilaration. The film has a very unique and significant beginning.
