R.S Prep-why is the bible so important to Christians: B question

The Bible is important for Christians because it is the word of God and in the New Testament God speaks to us directly through the life of his son (see Hebrew 1:1,2). The bible is also very important to Christians because it reinforces the existence of Jesus and provides proof of his existence through the letters from Peter when he stated that “we were eyewitnesses of his majesty” (see 2 Pet 1:16 -18). The Bible is an eyewitness account of historical events of such magnitude that they have literally shaped the world in which we live.

The bible is also a life guide - it gives advice and sets an example. It contains the actions and words of Jesus. It is the history of Christianity and is a record of the prophets. It contains the stories of God and his will. It contains different types of writing e.g. religious songs - psalms and prayers, also the four gospels. The Bible is vitally important to Christians because it is the source book of Christianity.

It is so important because it is one of the most published and printed books in the history of the world. It has been printed in just about every known language (including braille) and each year, since it was first written, it has been the world's greatest bestseller year after year.

The bible talks about the disciples and shows how Christianity developed.

The bible allows Christians to access the foundations of their faith.

The bible itself is not the revelation. It bears witness to the revelation, the revelation being Jesus whereby God reveals Himself, His plans, and His amazing love for the world, through Jesus , which is the greatest reason of all to justify the importance of the Bible.

Christians refer to the bible as 'the word of God', yet the bible is interpreted by Christians in different ways. To a Christian the bible is no ordinary book - it is sacred, holy and inspired. Christians believe the bible is in some way the word...
