Performance Analysis of Grameen Bank (Gb), Brac and Asa as Mfi Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Origin of the report
Internship program is a prerequisite for acquiring BBA degree. Before completion of the degree, a student must undergo the internship program. Internship program is a perfect blend of the theoretical and practical knowledge. As the classroom discussion alone cannot make a student perfect in handling the real situation, it is an opportunity for the students to know the real life situation through this program. The report on “Performance Analysis of Grameen Bank (GB), BRAC and ASA as MFI.” is prepared by Md. Jasim Uddin under the supervision and guidance of Muhammad Mujibul Kabir, Professor, Department of Finance, University of Dhaka and shubashish Barua, researcher, InM to meet the requirement of the internship program of BBA. 1.2 Objective of the Report

Broad Objective: Broad objective of this report is to meet the partial requirements for the fulfillment of BBA program. Specific Objectives: Internship program aims at providing knowledge about the real world business situation. The objectives of the report are- ➢ To be informed with the top three MFIs of Bangladesh focusing on poverty alleviation. ➢ To get an overview of services rendered by different MFIs. ➢ To identify the critical success factors (CSF) of Microfinance institutions. ➢ To compare the relative performance analysis of top three MFI: Grameen Bank (GB), BRAC and ASA ➢ To identify the problems faced by the MFIs.

➢ To suggest what components should be incorporated with the Microfinance program that will reduce the risk of being vulnerable to poor. 1.3 Limitation of the Study
In preparing the report, the main limitations that I faced were- • Regulation from the firm on information as the firm is a private research and confidentiality of information has to be strictly maintained. • Since it is private organization, it does not publish information publicly. • Nature of numerical data was not suitable for different statistical tools. Chapter Two: Internship Experience

Overview of the Internship Organization
A. Brief history
The Institute of Microfinance (InM) is an independent organization with focus on Research, Training, Academics and Knowledge Management. The establishment of InM is a milestone in the history of microfinance movement in Bangladesh. InM was established in August 2006. This institute commenced its activity from November 1, 2006. Palli-Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has promoted this institute. B. Nature of the Organization

InM is mainly a research organization focusing on poverty alleviation. It is a partner organization of PKSF. It also provides training to different microfinance organizations, academics to this research field and knowledge management. C. Services of the Organization

Currently the Institute of Microfinance (InM) is providing the following services: • Research
• Training
• Knowledge management or academic
The organization is also intending to start academics to the research field. D. Competitors
Although InM has started its activities from 1st November, 2006, it has upgraded its position quickly. It has some established competitors. • BIDS (Bangladesh Institute Of Development Studies)

It is establishing its other office in Lalmatia.
