TV shows can range from cartoons to reality and fiction, which makes a huge gap in between the three genres. Although all of the television shows I chose are on premium channels, they all differ in every way. HBO and SHOWTIME offer more realistic shows, but when comparing you won't get a lot of results.
Dexter, which premiers on SHOWTIME, is a television show about a young man who works as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department. He was adopted by a police Sergeant, father after being left in a storage locker with his older sibling, crying in a pool of his mother’s blood after she had been brutally murdered with a chain saw. The older sibling unfortunately grew too emotionally attached to the situation and was sent to a mental hospital for most of his life. Dexter however, was lucky enough to be that young and get adopted into an understanding family. As Dexter grows up, he finds himself enjoying killing small animals and his father thankfully notices this peculiar behavior. When explaining to his after why he does this, he explains this dark urge he has for killing things. They then talk things out and create some sort of code for Dexter to follow to control himself and not get caught in the acts. As Dexter keeps growing older, his urges do also, moving on to killing humans, but taking the law into his own hands and only killing those who deserve to be put down in his mind, such as rapists and murderers that the police haven't found yet. This series is all about him growing as a person and still killing people, but following his father’s lifetime code so he doesn't get caught.
Shameless is also a television show that premier on SHOWTIME. The series follows the dysfunctional family of Frank Gallagher, a single father of six children. While he spends his days drunk, his kids learn to take care of themselves. Dad's a drunk, Mom split long ago, eldest...
