The Mountain of Light
The mountain of light is located to the north-east of the Holy Mosque in Mecca. Its special historical significance lies in the fact that it was the place at where the light of revelation was revealed to Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him. The mountain is not related to any rites in Islam.
Hira Cave
Hira cave is the cave in which the Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, secluded himself for contemplation before the coming of his prophet-hood. It also the place to which the angel Gabriel descended to deliver God’s message to Muhammad.
The Revealing of the Qur’an
A defining historical moment occurred on Mount Hira, when the first revelations of Qur’an were given to Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him. The revelations started so that this Book could serve as legislation, a guide, and a source of knowledge for Muslims.
