Why Believe in a Creator?
American writer, historian, and philosopher William Durant writes in The Story of Civilisation, Vol. 1, p. 99, “The old belief that religion is universal is substantially correct. To the philosopher, this is one of the outstanding facts of history and psychology.”
By contrast, some people today claim that modern man has achieved a great deal of knowledge and progress, and so he/she no longer needs external guidance, for he can explain all the natural phenomena around him.
They further claim and that people in ancient history only resorted to worship because they failed to comprehend the causes of things, which they mistakenly interpreted as an external supernatural force, which they worshipped and made sacrificial offerings to them.
Greek historian adequately observed: says,
“We find cities without walls, kings, civilizations, literature, or theatres, but never has man seen a city without places of worship or worshippers.”
